Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to our clinic! We are happy to be sharing this journey with you. We have put together a summary of what you can expect in terms of prenatal care at each stage of your pregnancy.

At your first visit
We will discuss your intake history, genetic screening questions, and order prenatal lab work and a dating ultrasound as well as a routine 20 week ultrasound. This visit has usually been done in person, but due to COVID safety precautions, is being done by Telehealth (video visit) currently.
AT APPROXIMATELY 12 WEEKS
A complete physical examination is usually done at this time. We usually discuss your first ultrasound results, as well as the results of your screening lab work. We will usually give you a requisition to do genetic screening lab work at this time as well if you choose to do this.
You may want to consider virtual prenatal classes through She Found Health, as well as their YouTube videos on topics of interest to prenatal patients as well as new parents. They are run by two family doctors in Victoria that also do maternity care.
Next visits
These are usually done at 4 week intervals if your pregnancy is healthy until 28 weeks. A detailed anatomy ultrasound is done at 18-20 weeks. Gender determination can be requested at this ultrasound.
26-28 WEEKS
Gestational diabetes screening (a glucose tolerance test) is done between 26- 28 weeks.
Winrho is administered at 28 weeks if your blood type is Rh negative.
Pertussis vaccination (whooping cough) is also administered at this time.
36 WEEKS
Group B strep screening is usually done at this time. From 36 weeks on, we usually see you every week until delivery.
